165 High-Power Tractors Distributed to Punjab Farmers - Carr.pk

The Agriculture Department (Extension) Rawalpindi handed over high-power green tractors to local farmers on Sunday, marking a major step in the province’s ongoing drive to support the agriculture sector.

The programme, which drew strong public attention, saw the Agriculture Department (Extension) Rawalpindi give keys of 165 tractors to eligible farmers selected through a fair balloting process.

The ceremony was attended by MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, along with Parliamentary Secretary Shazia Rizwan, MPAs Tahira Mushtaq, senior agriculture officials, and a large number of farmers.

Addressing the gathering, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb said the Punjab government aims to strengthen farmers financially while also helping them adopt modern farming tools.

She noted that farmers play a key role in the country’s economy and must be equipped with technology that allows them to stay competitive. She added that the transparent execution of the tractor distribution reflects the government’s seriousness toward practical reforms.

Participants praised the clarity and smooth handling of the scheme, calling it a strong step toward a more productive agriculture sector. Under the programme, the Punjab government offered a subsidy of Rs1 million per tractor, while farmers paid the remaining cost.

Farmers described the subsidy as a timely relief amid increasing expenses. Over 250 farmers from different areas of the district attended the event and expressed trust in the provincial leadership and the Agriculture Department. Many said such initiatives not only support farmers but also help increase crop output across the province.

They also appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s pro-farmer measures and urged that similar programmes be extended to benefit more small and medium-scale growers.
