2 killed, 10 injured in pile-up on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway - Carr.pk

Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) on Tuesday.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Luqman, the incident occurred when a trailer was involved in an accident and blocked the road. This caused a pile-up as multiple other vehicles traveling from Islamabad to Peshawar collided.

One victim died at the scene, while a second passed away after being transported to the hospital. The injured, who include three women, were shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, where an emergency was declared.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed receiving two bodies and 10 injured patients. He stated that five of the injured are currently in critical condition, and all emergency staff have been put on high alert.

Motorway police responded to the site immediately to conduct rescue operations. Traffic on the motorway was temporarily suspended but has since been restored after the wreckage was cleared.

Fatal road accidents are becoming increasingly common in Pakistan due to overspeeding, vehicle fires, and poor visibility caused by fog.

Just last week, a bus accident caused by overspeeding in Balochistan killed at least 10 people and injured 36 others. In separate incidents, seven people were critically burnt when a van caught fire on Jaranwala Road, while dense fog claimed the lives of 14 people in Sargodha.
