With the second-generation BMW M2 having received an update in June 2024 and arriving in Malaysia almost exactly 12 months after that, the updated G87 can now be optioned with a host of M Performance parts, should an owner deem the two-door coupé to be in need of more visual aggression.

The ensemble focuses on the exterior of the G87, where the package brings a serving of components in carbon-fibre. Starting at the front, there are the front air inlet attachment trim for RM21,821, exterior mirror caps (pair, left and right sides; RM9,008), and wheel arch side panel cover trim (front and rear; RM9,882).

Moving along its sides, there are side sill attachments (pair, left and right; RM10,419), rear bootlid mounted spoiler; RM24,243, and the silencer system comprised of titanium exhaust tailpipes and rear diffuser for RM56,771. All in, the set of M Performance parts shown here for the G87 M2 comes to RM132,145.

Depicted in the brochure, but not specified on the Malaysian-market car here is the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminium wheel set; the car photographed here retains the regular M2’s wheel set that measures 19 inches and 20 inches front and rear, respectively, shod in tyres measuring 275/35R19 and 285/30R20.

Infotainment kit is comprised of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, adaptive LED headlamps and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The M Performance kit applies no changes to the powertrain of the G87 M2, which continues to be the S58 3.0 litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine that outputs 480 PS at 6,250 rpm and 600 Nm from 2,650 rpm to 6,130 rpm, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and M Sport differential.

Key features for the chassis continue to include adaptive M suspension and M Compound brakes, while the M Drive Professional system offers a range of configurability in drive modes.

The 2026 G87 BMW M2 in Malaysia is priced at RM656,800 with the standard two-year warranty, or RM699,100 with the extended five-year warranty and service package, according to the BMW Malaysia website.
