2026 GWM Tank 800 Set for March Launch in China With Dominant Hybrid V8 Power - Carr.pk

China’s 2026 GWM Tank 800 is confirmed for launch in China next month, positioning itself as a luxury off-road challenger to established rugged SUV.

The new flagship from Great Wall Motor’s Tank brand brings serious performance and premium features to the full-size SUV segment.

Massive Powertrains, Hybrid Advantage

Reported by Car News China, the Tank 800 will debut with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid, producing a massive 735 kW of combined power.

A secondary 3.0-litre six-cylinder plug-in hybrid option is also expected, delivering an estimated 283 kW for those seeking balance between performance and efficiency.

The Tank 800’s hybrid-augmented V8 aims to leap ahead in raw output while meeting evolving emissions standards.

Luxury Meets Off-Road Capability

According to Cars Guide Australia, the Tank 800 is expected to offer a premium interior that rivals luxury SUVs, drawing comparisons with vehicles like the Range Rover for comfort and appointments. Its body-on-frame architecture and four-wheel drive promise genuine off-road credentials alongside everyday usability.

Launch Timing and Market Position

GWM has moved up the launch timeline to March 2026 in China, aiming to capitalize on rising demand for high-end plug-in hybrids and full-size luxury SUVs.

While exact pricing and export plans remain under wraps, the Tank 800’s tech and performance could disrupt segment pricing globally once introduced beyond China.

This new flagship underscores GWM’s broader push into electrified, high-performance SUVs and broadens its Tank lineup just as global competitors double down on hybrid and electric off-roaders.
