After J7 PHEV, Another JAECOO SUV May Be Headed to Pakistan
JAECOO & Omoda are new entrants in Pakistan’s auto market, brought by Nishat Motors. The group first entered with two electric vehicles, the Omoda E5 and the JAECOO J6. Then, last month, in October, the company launched the JAECOO J7 PHEV, the first locally assembled SUV in the brand’s lineup in Pakistan.
According to our information, the company is also planning to bring the JAECOO J5 to Pakistan and, importantly, it’ll most likely be a locally assembled model.
So far, the J5 will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an HEV powertrain, and it will most likely compete with the HAVAL Jolion HEV.
While researching global specifications of the J5, we found that this model is currently offered internationally only in EV and ICE versions. The HEV variant has not been launched yet, but it is planned for the South African market in 2026, which strongly hints that Pakistan is among the early markets to receive the hybrid variant.
To get an idea of what to expect, we reviewed the international non-hybrid version of J5. Although Pakistan is expected to receive the 1.5T HEV, many of the UAE model’s design features and equipment levels are likely to resemble what we may see locally.
Here are some key highlights of the international 1.5-liter turbo:

With the J5 also expected to be locally assembled, it’s fair to assume JAECOO will again try to win on price, just as it did with the J7’s aggressive launch tag.
Chinese brands in Pakistan usually play the value card, so a competitive price for the J5 would not be a surprise.
For now, though, that’s only an educated guess, and J5’s success in this market will largely depend on where that number lands.
