All Entry and Exit Routes to Islamabad and Rawalpindi Sealed: Check Before Travel
Authorities have sealed all entry and exit routes to Islamabad and Rawalpindi following a devastating bomb blast at an Imam Bargah in Islamabad today, prompting major travel disruptions and heightened security across the twin cities. Officials have urged residents and commuters to avoid unnecessary travel until further notice.
A powerful suicide explosion struck the Imam Bargah and mosque in the Tarlai area of Islamabad during Friday prayers, killing dozens and injuring many more. Local police and emergency officials confirmed that the blast occurred at the entrance gate of the Shia place of worship when worshippers had gathered for prayers.
Hospitals across the capital declared emergency status as wounded people — more than 80 in some reports — were rushed for treatment. Authorities have said that at least 15 people have been killed and scores wounded, and casualty figures could rise.
Rescue teams, police, and paramilitary forces have sealed off the blast site and launched security operations in and around the area. The Islamabad Deputy Commissioner ordered closure of major access points, including highways and key interchanges leading into Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Containers, barricades, and checkpoints now block all entry and exit routes to control movement and ensure public safety.
Security officials say they are still investigating the nature of the attack, and an urgent inquiry has been launched. Emergency services continue to assist the injured and secure surrounding areas.
