Audi Rolls Out First F1 Car for 2026 Season
German automotive giant Audi has officially entered the Formula 1 arena, unveiling its first-ever single-seater, the Audi R26, on Tuesday.
The move marks Audi’s F1 debut after acquiring the Sauber team, signaling its long-term ambition to “win championships by 2030.”
The Audi R26 sports a sleek grey livery, with the iconic four-ring logo highlighted in red on the rear wing. Audi describes the design as “the most elegant and striking on the grid,” aiming to make a bold statement in the 2026 season.
Former Sauber drivers Nico Huelkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will continue with the rebranded team, bringing continuity as Audi launches its F1 campaign. Italian engineer Mattia Binotto, the project chief, said, “The 2026 regulations created the perfect moment to enter Formula 1.”

Wheatley emphasized Audi’s focus on resilience, precision, and performance: “Our team will grow stronger with every lap, debrief, and race. Day by day, decision by decision, we aim to turn our long-term ambition into on-track reality.”
Like other Formula 1 teams, Audi will debut the R26 on track next week during closed-door tests at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, giving fans a first glimpse of the German team in action.
