BMW Motorrad sells 202,563 motorcycles worldwide in 2025 – record sales for Malaysia market

Another year of above 200,000 units sold, with BMW Motorrad delivering 202,563 motorcycles and scooters to customers worldwide. This marks the fourth consecutive year with the Munich motorcycle maker marking sales above the 200,000 units mark.
Despite an overall sales decline in the premium motorcycle segment above 500 cc, including volatile trade conditions, intense price competition, regulatory constraints and new customs rules, BMW Motorrad managed to sell 15,109 motorcycles in December 2025, marking a strong end of year sales performance.
Several markets recorded their best ever sales last year, including Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Canada, Malaysia and the Netherlands. While the sales figure for Malaysia was not disclosed, China, with 10,555 motorcycles sold, made a significant contribution to BMW Motorrad’s international sales numbers.

The Americas remain a critical market for BMW Motorrad, despite political turmoil in the US, with 14,869 motorcycles delivered. Brazil contributed the second highest figure, with 14,488 two-wheelers sold.
BMW Motorrad’s performance in the EU remained strong, with its home market of Germany being the highest sales number worldwide, with 25,516 motorcycles sold. In France, 19,019 BMW Motorrads were sold, with Italy seeing 16,692 units, and Spain, 14,005 units ridden off the showroom floor.
As was expected, the new generation ‘R’ bikes lead BMW Motorrad’s sales charge, with the R 1300 RT, R 1300 R and R 1300 RS seeing good reception from the riding public. However, the jewel in BMW Motorrad’s 2025 sales crown was the latest iteration of the legendary ‘GS’ motorcycle, the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure.

In terms of number of units, the uber overlander, the R 1300 GS Adventure, saw 33,570 units out the showroom door, while the R 1300 GS with its smaller fuel tank seeing 32,555 units sold. These were followed by BMW Motorrad’s high performance four-cylinder superbike, the S 1000 RR, with 11,643 bikes hitting the highways and racetracks.
The four-cylinder models in BMW Motorrad’s line-up saw 20,859 units sold in 2025, with a further 7,549 units from the performance driven ‘M’-series, M 1000 R, M 1000 RR, and M 1000 XR, driving sales to 28,408 four-cylinder bikes sold overall. BMW Motorrad also saw strong sales performance from the middleweight segment, with the F 800 GS, the F 900 R, and the F 900 GS, while the scooters – C 400 GT, C 400 X, and the CE02 and CE04 electric scooters – saw 18,400 units sold.
