BRT Coming to Khyber: CM Announces Major Relief for Daily Travelers
The BRT service to Khyber is set to expand, as Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has confirmed that the Bus Rapid Transit route will soon reach Tedi Bazaar in Jamrud and Bara Bazaar.
The Chief Minister said the expansion aims to provide low-cost and reliable transport to residents, especially the working class who rely on public transport daily. He added that the BRT service to Khyber will ease travel difficulties for thousands of people from suburban and tribal areas.
Speaking during his visit to the University of Peshawar BRT Station, the Chief Minister interacted directly with passengers to hear their views on the service. He traveled by bus from the University Station to Karkhano Station, saying that his purpose was to observe the system’s performance himself. He stated that to control crowding, 50 new buses have already been inducted and another 50 will soon join the fleet.
Commenting on the ongoing political discussion, the Chief Minister said that the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment does not reflect the will of the people. He added that the current federal setup holds only 17 seats and therefore lacks the mandate to make such major constitutional changes.
