Budi95 has benefitted over 14.6 mil Malaysians as of Feb 11, averaging 3.1 mil transactions a day – FM2

Over 14.6 million Malaysians have enjoyed subsidised RON 95 petrol under the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) programme as of February 11, second finance minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has revealed, according to a Bernama report. The system currently processes 3.1 million transactions a day on average (it’s capable of 43.2 million).

“Through Budi95, the public receives RON 95 at RM1.99 per litre directly at the pump, with no new registration or complicated procedures required. The use of MyKad as an eligibility verification mechanism for targeted subsidies has proven effective and practical,” Amir Hamzah said today in parliament, adding that it also reduces leakages to non-citizens.

According to another Bernama report, prime minister and finance minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday that Budi95 is expected to save at least RM2.5 billion this year, subject to movements in global crude oil prices and exchange rates. He revealed in December that the government has saved RM800 million since the programme began on September 30, 2025.

We’ve enjoyed four months of Budi95 already – as of November 30, 13.9 million out of 16.55 million eligible Malaysians (84%) bought 2.59 billion litres of RON 95 petrol at the subsidised RM1.99 a litre (RM5.16 billion total). The latest number, as revealed above, is 14.6 million, so the penetration rate has now passed 88%. First and second month statistics here.
