China’s Long-Range EVs: BYD Dominates the Top 3
A new China EV range ranking puts BYD at the top and makes it the only brand to offer models rated at 1,000 km or more under the CLTC testing cycle, according to CarNewsChina.
This breakthrough highlights BYD’s dominance in battery innovation and positions the brand strongly in global markets, including Pakistan’s rapidly growing EV sector.
BYD’s Ultra-Long Range Dominance in China
Recent industry data from regulatory filings shows BYD’s premium sub-brands lead the pack.
The Denza Z9 EV claims the top spot with a 122.5 kWh battery delivering a certified 1,068 km CLTC range.
Closely following are the Denza Z9 GT EV at 1,036 km CLTC on the same battery and the Yangwang U7 EV at 1,006 km CLTC with a massive 150 kWh pack.
These three models stand alone above the 1,000 km mark, while competitors like Xiaomi SU7 (902 km CLTC), Zeekr 007 (870 km CLTC), and Tesla Model 3 (830 km CLTC) fall below 900 km.

Why this matters beyond bragging rights
Range has become the easiest spec for shoppers to compare, and it directly targets “range anxiety,” the fear of running out of charge before finding a plug.
By leading the 1,000 km bracket, BYD shows it can deliver high range in market-ready vehicles, not just in a one-off showcase.
That edge can also help BYD defend pricing power as China’s EV price war squeezes margins and pushes rivals to compete harder on headline specifications.
Pakistan angle: Long-range meets real-world infrastructure
That message lands at an interesting moment in Pakistan, where public fast-charging coverage still clusters in major cities and long intercity routes can punish short-range EVs.
This milestone underscores BYD’s technological edge through its advanced Blade Battery. Long-range coverage is crucial in Pakistan, where expanding highways and still-developing charging infrastructure are prevalent.
BYD has recently launched the Atto 2 and Sealion 7 in Pakistan, building on earlier launches such as the Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 6, and Shark 6.
With six nameplates on the table, BYD can pitch range as a day-to-day advantage, especially for drivers who want fewer detours and more predictable planning on long motorway runs.
