CM Punjab Approves Solar Charging Stations for Electric Buses
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered solar-powered charging for the province’s electric buses to expand green public transport.
She inaugurated the Punjab Transport Company headquarters and the Electric Vehicle Command and Control Centre, reviewing the automated bus washing plant and fast-charging stations capable of powering buses in 105 minutes using Yutong’s 160-kilowatt system.
Maryam Nawaz directed officials to identify new electric bus routes and prepare a timeline for adding 1,500 buses.
She also emphasized claiming carbon credits under the Green Bus Project and improving facilities for passengers, especially women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The Punjab Transport Company has served over 15.5 million passengers, including 3.8 million women and 1.5 million students.
