CM Punjab Introduces T-Cash Card for Public Transit - Carr.pk

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a major push to modernize public transport with electric buses and the T-Cash Card system. The government aims to improve mobility, reduce pollution, and provide cashless travel options for commuters.

The electric bus project will introduce 1,500 buses across Punjab. The rollout is happening in phases, with cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad already receiving new buses since late 2025. Recently, the Punjab cabinet approved the procurement of 1,000 additional buses to expand the network further.

Meanwhile, the T-Cash Card system allows commuters to travel on all mass transit services, including the Metro, Orange Line, Speedo, and Electro buses, using a single rechargeable smart card. The card also functions as a debit card for everyday transactions. The government provides student versions with free or discounted travel.
