Faisalabad has now joined Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala in adopting a fully digital Smart E-Challan System, a major breakthrough aimed at improving traffic discipline and ensuring safer roads. The initiative has been jointly implemented by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and the Faisalabad Safe City Project, marking another step toward a unified province-wide intelligent traffic management network.

How the Smart E-Challan System Works?

The system relies on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras installed at key intersections and high-traffic zones across Faisalabad. These advanced surveillance cameras automatically detect various traffic violations including:

  • Red-light signal jumping
  • Over-speeding
  • Wrong lane or line violations

Once a violation is identified, the system immediately generates a digital challan and sends it directly to the vehicle owner’s registered address. This eliminates manual enforcement and reduces the chances of roadside disputes.

Easy Online Challan Verification and Payment

Citizens no longer need to visit traffic offices to verify or pay fines. E-Challans can be checked and paid online through the official PSCA E-Challan Portal: https://echallan.psca.gop.pk/

This digital payment method ensures greater convenience, transparency, and time savings for commuters.

Building on Successful Implementations Across Pakistan

The Smart E-Challan system has already shown significant positive results in other major cities:

City Results
Lahore Reduction in repeated violations and improved compliance
Karachi Significant improvement in fine recovery rates
Rawalpindi & Gujranwala Efficient enforcement through Safe City surveillance

Faisalabad’s integration reinforces Punjab’s mission to modernize urban traffic controls and enhance road safety through automation and digital governance.

A Step Toward Safer and Smarter Cities

This initiative is not just about issuing fines—it aims to create a culture of responsible driving, reduce accidents, and improve mobility for all citizens. As surveillance coverage expands further, Faisalabad is expected to witness:

  • Reduced traffic congestion
  • Enhanced public safety
  • More disciplined driving behavior
