Govt Launches Rs.100 Billion Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme - Carr.pk

Pakistan has launched a major Electric Vehicle (EV) adoption scheme to promote clean and affordable transport nationwide.

The Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) scheme aims to reduce fuel dependence, support local EV manufacturing, and make electric mobility accessible for all.

Under the plan, the government will provide Rs100.36 billion in subsidies over five years for electric bikes, rickshaws, loaders, cars, buses, and trucks. The Engineering Development Board (EDB), under the Ministry of Industries, is implementing Phase-I of the Prime Minister’s Electric Vehicle Adoption Scheme under the NEVP 2025-2030 policy.

Phase-I offers support for 41,000 EVs, including 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 rickshaws and loaders. Phase-II will expand benefits to 78,170 additional EVs with a subsidy of Rs8.95 billion in 2025-26.

The scheme has two options:

  • Self-finance plan: Buyers pay full cost upfront, then get up to Rs80,000 subsidy reimbursed directly to their bank account.
  • Bank lease plan: EVs can be purchased on easy instalments at subsidized rates, making ownership easier.

Subsidy disbursements under Phase-I have already started. The program is managed with strict coordination among EDB, State Bank, Nadra, participating banks, and approved EV manufacturers, ensuring transparency and fast delivery.
