Govt Starts Subsidised Electric Bikes, Rickshaws on Monthly Installment
The government has initiated the transfer of subsidy amounts to eligible beneficiaries acquiring electric bikes under the Prime Minister’s “PYO” scheme.
Hamid Ali Mansoor, CEO of the Engineering Development Board, stated that under this initiative, a total of 116,000 electric vehicles will be distributed across the country.
In the first phase, subsidy transfers are being made to 41,000 beneficiaries, including 40,000 electric bikes, 1,000 rickshaws, and loaders. The second phase will cover subsidies for over 78,000 additional electric vehicles.
Hamid Ali Mansoor further explained that the government plans to provide nearly Rs.9 billion in subsidies under the scheme this year. The program targets students, youth, and women, enabling them to acquire electric bikes through affordable installment plans.

He emphasized that registration on the PYO portal is mandatory to participate in the scheme, and applicants must provide accurate information online. The entire registration and selection process has been designed to be fully digital and transparent.
