“Hawai Firing” Injured Dozens In Karachi Despite Road Safety Warning
Careless aerial firing in Karachi hurt at least 28 people with stray bullets on the New Year 2026, even though police had warned everyone and used drones to watch from the sky.
According to the reports, rescue sources confirmed at least 28 injuries from falling bullets shortly after midnight on January 1, including women and children aged 8 to 65.
Affected areas spanned Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Korangi, Liaquatabad, Lyari, Mauripur, Pak Colony, Gulberg, and Manzoor Colony. Victims rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Civil Hospital Karachi, and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
Ignored Police Warnings and Drone Deployment
Police gave strict warnings ahead of the 2026 New Year celebrations regarding the dangers of aerial firing, stating it would be treated severely.
In District Central, drone cameras were used to monitor high-risk areas, including Liaquatabad and Nazimabad.
Thousands of police officers were on duty. Yet, many people did not listen. What was meant to be a happy celebration turned into fear and chaos on roads and in homes.
Police Action and Road Safety Implications
Reports say that police arrested around 59 suspects, recovering weapons. This incident highlights persistent urban hazards, where stray bullets endanger drivers, pedestrians, and residents, underscoring the need for advanced tech like drones in road safety enforcement.
