Islamabad has achieved a major milestone as all 21 routes of the electric bus service are now fully operational, providing citizens with affordable, efficient, and environmentally friendly travel options.

The initiative, launched under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has quickly gained popularity, with daily ridership steadily rising and more than 102,000 passengers using the service in a single day.

The announcement came during a high-level review meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa to assess the progress of ongoing and upcoming development projects in the capital.

The session was attended by senior officials, including Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Nifasat Raza, Member Planning Dr Khalid Hafeez, the Director General Procurement and Contract, and project directors from various schemes.

Officials highlighted that construction of the electric bus depots, spread across two sites, is nearly complete, with Site A fully ready and overall work at 97 percent completion. The depots are expected to enhance operational efficiency and support the growing demand for eco-friendly urban transport in Islamabad.
