Good Drivers in Islamabad Are Getting Rewards Instead of Fines - Carr.pk

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a new “Good Citizen” campaign, shifting focus from fines to rewards in an effort to promote better road discipline across the capital.

Instead of penalising every mistake, the initiative encourages drivers to follow traffic rules by offering recognition and practical benefits to those who consistently obey the law.

How the “Good Citizen” System Works

Under the new system, traffic officers can issue “Good Citizen” stickers to motorists who demonstrate responsible driving behaviour — such as obeying speed limits, following traffic signals, and wearing seat belts.

To ensure transparency, each sticker carries a QR code that allows authorities to verify a driver’s compliance record and prevent misuse.

What Drivers Get in Return

The campaign goes beyond symbolic rewards and offers real incentives to verified “Good Citizen” motorists, including:

  • Priority Service: Dedicated counters at traffic facilitation centres
  • Faster Processing: Quicker handling of licences and documentation, skipping long queues

Why ITP Is Doing This

According to the traffic police, the goal is to use positive reinforcement to improve road safety rather than relying solely on fines. By rewarding responsible drivers, the initiative aims to:

  • Improve Traffic Flow: Better discipline means fewer disruptions and smoother movement
  • Build Public Trust: Encouraging cooperation instead of confrontation
  • Promote Civic Responsibility: Reinforcing road safety as a shared responsibility

The “Good Citizen” campaign aligns with Islamabad’s ongoing shift toward technology-driven, data-based traffic management, marking another step toward safer, more efficient roads in the capital.
