ITP Launches Stricter Lane Discipline Campaign for Motorcyclists
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have intensified a special drive against motorcycle lane violations, combining strict enforcement with public awareness campaigns to improve road safety in the capital.
Launched on January 1, 2026, the initiative targets major city roads, ensuring motorcyclists adhere to designated lanes. Authorities emphasize that the campaign is not solely about fines or legal action; riders are also being educated on traffic rules and proper lane usage to promote lasting behavior change.
Officials report that the campaign is already showing results. Lane violations have dropped by as much as 95 percent on key routes such as Club Road and Srinagar Highway. Citizens have also noticed smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion in these busy areas.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain Hamza Humayun recognized the efforts of officers who performed exceptionally during the campaign. In a formal ceremony, top-performing personnel were awarded certificates for their dedication and professionalism in enforcing traffic laws while maintaining a positive public approach.
