Omoda & Jaecoo made their debut in Pakistan this past August with the launch of the Omoda E5 and Jaecoo J6, both all-electric compact SUVs. In October, the brand followed up with its first locally assembled vehicle, the Jaecoo J7, a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) competitively priced at around Rs. 1 crore.

Now, the brand is set to introduce the J5, a subcompact hybrid SUV. Most notably, the J5 is expected to be the most affordable brand-new hybrid vehicle in Pakistan. We will reveal the official price and local specs this coming Sunday; for now, let’s take a look at its international features

International Specs: What to Expect from the J5 Hybrid

While the global market enjoys the J5 in Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), Petrol (ICE), and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) formats, the star of the show for Pakistan is the Hybrid version.

Drawing on international reviews, particularly from the South African and  Australian market, where the vehicle has been put through its paces, the J5 Hybrid (HEV) is designed for efficiency without sacrificing style.

  • Combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a hybrid powertrain (electric motor with 1.8kWh battery).
  • Utilises Super Hybrid System (SHS-H), which is a self-charging (non-plug-in) hybrid, distinct from the plug-in PHEV system in the larger J7.
