Karachi Citizens Face Wrong E-Challans for Over Three Months
The issue of incorrect e-challans continues in Karachi, as citizens are facing problems due to errors in the traffic police’s e-challan system.
The e-challan system was implemented in the city last October; however, even after more than three months, the system’s glitches have not been resolved. Despite claims of modern cameras being installed across the city, citizens are still being issued wrong challans.
Multiple complaints have been received from citizens stating that they were issued a challan for not wearing a seatbelt, even though they were wearing it.
In the picture attached with the challan sent by the traffic police, the seatbelt can clearly be seen. Similarly, some citizens are receiving challans because other people are using their vehicle number plates on different cars.
A few days ago, a citizen received five challans worth Rs50,000. The citizen claims that his vehicle was not present at the locations where the challans were issued. In the picture sent by the traffic police, neither the citizen is visible nor is the vehicle shown in the challan his.
Another person has allegedly placed his vehicle’s number plate on their own car and is openly driving it on the city streets. The traffic police claim that this system is an important milestone for ensuring citizens’ compliance with traffic rules and effective monitoring.

With public cooperation, this system is being further improved; however, on the other hand, citizens are bearing the consequences of its errors.
