Karachi Road Closures Announced Amid City-Wide Construction
Karachi – Traffic Police have announced major temporary road closures and detours across key areas of the city to accommodate ongoing infrastructure and expressway construction. Commuters are advised to plan alternative routes and expect delays during the coming days.
Jahangir Road Closed for One Week
Jahangir Road, a vital artery connecting Teen Hatti to Gurumandir — will be completely closed for one week, starting midnight tonight.
- Alternate route: Jail Chowrangi → Nishtar Road → PIB Chowrangi → Jamshed Road
- Heavy/commercial traffic: Detours via Dak Khana Chowrangi to Askari Park or Nazimabad No. 1 Chowrangi
Traffic personnel will be deployed to manage diversions and maintain flow in surrounding areas.
Malir River Bridge Shutdown – Sunday, 7 AM–7 PM
Both sides of the Malir River Bridge on National Highway will be closed from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, due to Malir Expressway construction work.
- Quaidabad to City Center: U-turn at Shahrah-e-Bhutto
- Near Moulvi Hotel: Temporary diversion available beside the bridge
Traffic wardens will be present to guide vehicles during peak hours.
Partial Closure: Creek to Defence Road
The link from Ayesha Mosque to Defence via Shahrah-e-Bhutto Interchange will also be closed. However, traffic heading toward Creek from Ayesha Mosque remains open.

To ease traffic pressure, Karachi Traffic Police have advised the following detours:
- Shahrah-e-Faisal → Korangi Road → Defence:
→ Turn at Ittehad Signal → proceed via Khayaban-e-Ittehad - Korangi-bound traffic:
→ Use the Qayoomabad Chowrangi flyover over Malir Nadi - Shaheed-e-Millat → Defence:
→ Take the PT Flyover or the new Korangi flyover
