Sindh CM Approves Rs21.53B to Fix Karachi Roads - Carr.pk

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved a massive Rs21.53 billion package to repair severely damaged roads across Karachi, promising smoother drives, reduced vehicle wear, and enhanced road safety for millions of commuters and motorists.

Key Details of the Approval

According to the reports by The Express Tribune, the ambitious initiative targets 409 roads in the city’s seven districts, with 400 slated for patchwork repairs and nine for full reconstruction.

District priorities include Malir (98 roads), West (81), and Central (53), where crumbling infrastructure is causing heavy traffic jams, vehicle damage from potholes, and safety risks.

Additional Infrastructure Components

Officials allocate Rs10.93 billion specifically for road works, as well as funds for sewerage, water supply, storm drains, and streetlights.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab emphasized the urgent need: “409 roads across seven districts need rehabilitation.”

Minister Syed Nasir Shah highlighted financial strains on Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs), prompting the grant-in-aid of Rs13 billion.

Benefits Of The Initiative

This move directly benefits drivers on the road by minimizing tire blowouts, suspension damage, and fuel inefficiency caused by poor roads, issues that plague drivers nationwide.

Improved urban mobility also supports commercial transport and economic growth in Karachi.

The CM builds on earlier directives for major road fixes, signaling a continued push for better infrastructure. Implementation falls to the 24 Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs).
