KP Raises Rs. 470.3m Through Choice Number Plate Auction - Carr.pk

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has generated Rs470.3 million in a single day through the second phase of its premium vehicle number plate auction, provincial officials confirmed. 

The event was held on February 15 at Arena Hall, Qayyum Sports Complex, Peshawar, and organised by the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department.

Record Bids for Tribal and Regional Plates

A total of 30 choice number plates featuring tribal and district names were auctioned, drawing strong public participation and competitive bidding.

  • Dawar-1 – Rs175 million (believed to be the highest price ever paid for a plate in the province)
  • Orakzai-1 – Rs41 million
  • Waziristan-1 – Rs40.6 million
  • Bajaur-1 – Rs33.5 million
  • Mohmand-1 – Rs32.1 million
  • Mehsud-1 – Rs22 million
  • Khyber-1 – Rs20.1 million
  • Gujjar-1 – Rs16.3 million
  • Pashtun-1 – Rs13.2 million

Other notable plates sold included:

  • Buner-1 – Rs9.5 million 
  • Jadoon-1 – Rs7.1 million 
  • Mardan-1 – Rs6.8 million 
  • Dir-1 – Rs6.7 million
  • Khalil-1 – Rs6.5 million 
  • Khattak-1 – Rs6.1 million
  • Taj-1 – Rs4.2 million 

Govt Highlights Cultural Pride and Revenue Gains

Officials highlighted that bidders included notable business figures, politicians and community leaders, demonstrating how cultural and regional pride can translate into economic returns. A senior official said the strong turnout validates the government’s strategy to modernise vehicle registration and unlock new revenue streams without raising taxes.

The auction was supervised by Director General Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Khan, along with senior department officers.
