Lahore Launches Crackdown on Smoke-Emitting Vehicles
Due to the increase in smog and environmental pollution, the Transport Department has intensified actions against vehicles emitting smoke. From November 1 to 18, a total of 9,811 vehicles were inspected across the city.
According to details, smoke-emitting vehicles: 1,421 were fined, 422 vehicles were impounded, 1,371 vehicles were fined for overloading, fines totaling 18 million rupees were imposed, 372 FIRs were registered, and 348 drivers were arrested.
Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has decided to expand the scope of the anti-smog campaign and issued clear instructions that no leniency should be shown towards vehicles emitting smoke.
He also warned transporters not to operate vehicles on the roads without repairs or fitness certificates.
