LDA Launches Inquiry Into Raiwind Road Condition

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched a formal inquiry into the deteriorating condition of Raiwind Road after Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz raised concerns over potholes, cracks, and missing tuff tiles along the busy route.

LDA DG Tahir Farooq deputized Director P&D Hassan Gillani to inspect the site, hold the contractor and LDA engineering officials accountable, and submit a detailed report identifying shortcomings.

The inspection revealed gaps in the greenbelt, broken tiles, and unfinished stretches, prompting immediate corrective action.

Separately, the DG stressed strict fire safety measures for all LDA-controlled commercial and high-rise properties, including smoke detectors, fire hydrants, cleared emergency exits, and Rescue 1122 drills.

Non-compliant buildings will face fines, sealing, and legal action, with digital surveys and geo-tagging used to verify compliance within a month.
