M-Tag Now Compulsory for All Motorcycles in Islamabad - Carr.pk

The Islamabad administration has made M-tag registration mandatory for all motorcycles starting February 20, marking the start of the second phase of the capital’s vehicle tagging drive, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad confirmed in an X post:

All Categories of Motorcycles to Be Covered Without Exception

The new requirement applies to all categories of motorcycles operating within Islamabad, including standard bikes, heavy bikes, and ride-hailing motorcycles. DC has clarified that no motorcycle category is exempt.

To obtain an M-tag, motorcycle owners must present their vehicle registration documents and national identity card. Both documents are mandatory, and applications will not be processed without them.

Regarding the placement of the sticker, the picture posted by DC Islamabad confirms that the M-tag stickers will be placed in front of the motorcycle’s speedometer.

13 M-tag Issuance Points Set Up Across Islamabad

M-tagging services for motorcycles will begin at 10:00 am on February 20 at 13 facilitation points set up across Islamabad. Staff will be deployed at each centre to assist applicants and manage queues to streamline the registration process.

Authorities have advised motorcycle owners to plan their visit to the nearest designated centre after the launch date and to carry all required documents to avoid delays.

Background: From Cars to Motorcycles

The M-tag initiative was introduced as part of a broader effort to organise vehicle movement and strengthen compliance with registration rules in the federal capital.

During the first phase, M-tags were made compulsory for cars, with officials stating at the time that motorcycles would be included in a second phase, which will now start from February 20, 2026.
