Mercedes-Benz CLA Wins 2026 European Car of the Year Title - Carr.pk

The all-new European Car of the Year crown for 2026 has been claimed by the electric-first Mercedes‑Benz CLA, marking a major moment for both Mercedes-Benz and electric mobility at the heart of Europe’s auto industry.

The announcement was made at the Brussels Motor Show, where jurors from 23 countries awarded the title after a rigorous evaluation of 35 new models.

The European Car of the Year award isn’t a literal “worldwide” title but is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious automotive honours on the continent.

It’s voted on by a panel of independent European automotive journalists and focuses on vehicles launched and sold across Europe, meaning the CLA’s win reflects broad appeal in that key market rather than a truly global vote.

Judges praised the CLA for pushing the envelope in efficiency, design, and technology, with its electric variant boasting impressive real-world range and fast charging capability.

Competitors included the Škoda Elroq and Kia EV4, with the CLA ultimately securing a comfortable points lead.

Industry voices say this win underscores the accelerating shift toward electric powertrains among premium brands, even as hybrid and combustion models remain part of the broader market mix.

The victory puts Mercedes-Benz at the forefront of Europe’s mobility conversation in 2026,  a significant boost as EV adoption continues to climb and competitions like this influence consumer trends and corporate strategy.
