Is the Iconic Mitsubishi Pajero Returning to Pakistan? Teaser Reveals New SUV - Carr.pk

For many off‑road enthusiasts in Pakistan, the Mitsubishi Pajero isn’t just an SUV; it’s a symbol of adventure and durability. The legendary 4×4 might be making a return, with Mitsubishi teasing a new SUV based on the latest Triton ute.

The teaser, released in a New Year’s video, offers a glimpse of a bold, boxy SUV with unmistakable off‑road design cues.

This new model looks to be a faithful revival of the Pajero’s legacy, with body-on-frame construction, high ground clearance, and a focus on rugged terrain, qualities that made the Pajero a fan favourite in Pakistan.

While Mitsubishi hasn’t announced an official release date, production is expected to begin in Thailand by late 2026, with a formal reveal likely happening soon.

What We Know About the New Pajero SUV

While full details remain under wraps, the teaser strongly suggests the SUV will share a platform with the new Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. The strong ladder-frame chassis and off‑road features, including raised suspension and practical design elements, point to a true 4×4 SUV rather than a crossover. Early speculation points to the SUV offering a 2.4L turbo-diesel engine, similar to the Triton’s, producing around 150kW and 470Nm of torque.

Pajero’s Legacy in Pakistan

The Pajero has long been a beloved nameplate among Pakistani off‑road enthusiasts. Known for its robust build and off‑road prowess, the Pajero dominated both the road and the rugged terrains of Pakistan. Whether it was the Dakar Rally‑winning model or the everyday family SUV, the Pajero’s enduring popularity in Pakistan has never wavered.

A new Pajero SUV would likely be welcomed with open arms by Pakistani fans, especially with the growing demand for off‑road vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Fortuner. As Mitsubishi’s new SUV is expected to offer a no-nonsense, tough design, it could fill the gap left by the aging models in Pakistan’s off‑road market.
