Motorcyclists Can Now Get Driving Licences on the Same Day
Motorcyclists in Rawalpindi can now obtain their driving licences immediately without waiting for 42 days after receiving a learner’s permit. This new process requires applicants to pass both the written and practical driving tests on the same day.
The initiative has been launched to make it easier for motorcycle riders to get their driving licences. A police spokesperson said that on the direction of DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir and Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, relief is being provided to motorcyclists to speed up the licensing process.
Last month alone, 20,500 driving licences were issued from 13 centres across the district. Previously, applicants had to wait for 42 days after obtaining a learner’s permit before they could apply for a permanent driving licence.
In addition to permanent centres, mobile police licensing vans are also operating to serve people in remote areas. Inspector Imtiaz Khan, in-charge of the Driving Licence Branch, said the vans will provide licensing services at the following locations:
- Tuesday: Sukho Mor stop and Government Boys College Kallar Syedan
- Wednesday: Kotench Bhata Rawalpindi and Kaliam Awan Village Gujar Khan
- Thursday: Police Foundation Colony Rawat and Government Boys College Satellite Town
- Friday: Mandara Bazaar and Jhawara Picket Dhamial
- Saturday: Bisali Village and Government Sarwar Shaheed College Gujar Khan
- Sunday: Special rickshaw driving tests at the old Varan depot
