Karachi Roads Affected as Major Flyover Closes for Construction
The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a temporary closure of the Murghi Khana Flyover (N-5) at the Qaidabad Interchange to facilitate girder launching work for the Malir Expressway (Shaheed Benazir Bhutto) project.
Traffic on the flyover will be completely suspended in both directions from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on January 3 and 4, 2026, to ensure public safety during construction activities.
Vehicles coming from the Steel Mill side will be diverted onto the Malir Expressway via Ramp A and will rejoin N-5 through Ramp D. Meanwhile, traffic traveling from Jinnah International Airport toward the Steel Mill will use a temporary riverbed route starting from Anwar Baloch Hotel up to the end of the Murghi Khana Flyover.

Authorities say the work is essential to complete the Malir Expressway project efficiently and safely, which will ultimately improve traffic flow and connectivity in Karachi.
