Non-Hybrid V12 LaFerrari Prototype auctioned for $2.4 million
A 2012 Ferrari LaFerrari was recently sold at auction for $2.4 million. That’s low by LaFerrari standards, but there’s a good reason for it. This isn’t your usual LaFerrari, but a prototype used during the hypercar’s development phase.
Internally known as “Proto F 150 – P2”, the car features the production-style LaFerrari body, which is covered in camouflage. However, underneath the bodywork is a modified version of the 458 Italia’s aluminium chassis, instead of the carbon fibre monocoque. The steering wheel is also from the 458.

Mounted behind the driver’s cabin is a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. But, unlike the production version, this prototype does not have the HY-KERS hybrid system installed. Naturally, peak power is down from 950 hp to just 789 hp.
The LaFerrari prototype was never homologated, and hence cannot be registered for road use.
