Pakistan’s First Transgender Captain Breaks Barriers in Transport Industry - Carr.pk

In a bold move that signals real change, ride‑hailing startup BusCaro has appointed Pakistan’s first transgender captain to its driving team.

Mashion reports that the company views this move as more than just a hire, it’s a step toward breaking down barriers that have long excluded transgender professionals from Pakistan’s transport sector.

BusCaro’s leadership highlighted that this isn’t a token gesture. Instead, it reflects a commitment to equal opportunity and workplace inclusion, especially in an industry where more than 80% of transgender individuals struggle to find stable work.

The new captain comes from a background marked by discrimination. Growing up in a traditional household, she faced barriers most of her life because of her gender identity.

Now, she’s being recognized for her skills on the road rather than the label society once fixed on her.

Local advocates welcomed the news. They see BusCaro’s decision as a practical step toward social inclusion, not just an abstract ideal. Pakistan has seen notable milestones for its transgender community in recent years, and this addition in transport marks another visible shift
