Punjab Allows 16-Year-Olds to Ride Motorcycles - Carr.pk

The Punjab government has decided to allow children aged 16 years to ride motorcycles in the province. In this regard, the Standing Committee on Home of the Punjab Assembly has approved the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2026.

According to details, the committee has approved permission to ride motorcycles at the age of 16.

The provincial government has decided to introduce a Juvenile Driving Permit, proposing a legal framework for motorcycle riders aged 16 to 18. The Juvenile Driving Permit will be issued by the Licensing Authority.

The Punjab government stated that the purpose of this decision is to curb the increasing trend of underage driving without a license.

The legislation has been made to improve road safety and reduce accidents. The text of the bill mentions that specific conditions and supervision will be mandatory for riding a motorcycle.
