Punjab Launches First Transport Monitoring Command Centre - Carr.pk

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the province’s first public transport monitoring command centre. This is a major step in modernizing urban mobility under the Transport Vision 2030 plan.

The new command centre tracks bus operations across Punjab in real time. It uses artificial intelligence to monitor routes, permits, and vehicle movements. Officials can now identify problem areas, improve coordination, and enhance passenger safety. The system also helps reduce traffic violations and road accidents.

The facility is part of Vision T-30, which focuses on clean, safe, and affordable transport. Punjab has introduced electric buses in major cities. Students and senior citizens travel free, while general commuters pay Rs20 per ride.

Feasibility studies for new metro lines in Lahore, including the Yellow, Blue, and Purple lines, have been approved. Similar mass transit projects are planned in Faisalabad and Gujranwala to improve connectivity.
