Punjab Government Imposes Stricter Traffic Fines to Curb Violations
Lahore – The Punjab government has introduced significant traffic fines under the updated Motor Vehicle Act (Punjab) 2025, aiming to improve road safety and discipline across the province.
The new penalties target a range of traffic violations, encouraging responsible driving and reducing accidents.
Key Traffic Violations and Fines
The updated law imposes heavy fines for various offenses:
Pollution Offenses:
- Motorcycles: Rs 5,000
- Cars/Jeeps: Rs 10,000
- Public Service Vehicles (PSVs): Rs 15,000
- Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs): Rs 20,000
Parking Violations:
- Motorcycles: Rs 2,000
- Cars: Rs 5,000
- PSVs: Rs 10,000
- HTVs: Rs 20,000
Throwing Garbage from Vehicles:
- Motorcycles: Rs 5,000
- HTVs: Rs 20,000
Seatbelt Violations:
- Cars: Rs 10,000
- PSVs: Rs 15,000
- HTVs: Rs 20,000
Underage Driving:
- Motorcycles: Rs 25,000
- HTVs: Rs 100,000
Mobile Phone Use While Driving:
- Motorcycles: Rs 5,000
- Cars/PSVs/HTVs: Rs 20,000
Carrying Excess Passengers on Motorcycles:
- Fine: Rs 5,000 for more than two passengers
Obstructing Roads (e.g., parking on footpaths):
- Motorcycles: Rs 2,000
- HTVs: Rs 20,000
