Islamabad Suspends Metro Bus, Green Bus Services Today - Carr.pk

The Punjab government has approved dedicated metro bus services for Faisalabad and Gujranwala Districts, expanding its mass transit network beyond Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the decision during the inauguration of the Punjab Transport Company Headquarters and the EV Command & Control Centre in Lahore.

The new services will follow the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) model with dedicated corridors and feeder routes, aiming to provide safe, comfortable, and inclusive travel for women, students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities.

In Gujranwala, the Yellow Line will run electric buses from Aimanabad to Gakhar, while Faisalabad will see a network connecting key commercial and residential areas. Construction has already started, though official launch dates are not yet confirmed.

The EV Command Centre supports Punjab’s green transit push with facilities like a bus washing plant with water recycling and a high-capacity charging station that charges buses in 105 minutes.

Punjab Transport Company CEO Kausar Khan said over 15.5 million passengers have used electric bus services under social inclusion programs.
