Punjab Govt Approves 114 Electric Buses for Multan - Carr.pk

The Multan Division government approved a new electric bus service to modernize public transport and reduce environmental impact.

114 electric buses will operate across the division, supported by 470 new bus shelters to provide residents with a safe, eco-friendly, and modern travel experience while cutting fuel use and air pollution.

The govt will launch the service in phases. In Multan City, authorities will deploy 45 buses on three major routes, then add 24 buses on five additional routes.

Officials completed the tendering for 49 bus shelters in Multan City and 87 in the Saddar area to ensure passenger comfort.

The project will expand to Khanewal (15 buses, 136 shelters), Vehari (10 buses, 64 shelters), and Lodhran (15 buses, 134 shelters), bringing modern public transport to the entire division, not just urban centers.

Multan Division Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan directed departments to maintain high construction standards, transparency, and timely completion of bus shelters before the buses start operations.
