Punjab Imposes Heavy Fines on 8 Major Traffic Violations - Carr.pk

The Punjab government has amended the Motor Vehicle Act, imposing heavy fines on 8 major traffic violations to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules and maintain discipline on the roads across the province.

Under the revised regulations, owners of vehicles emitting air pollution or smoke will face heavy fines: PKR 5,000 for motorcycles, PKR 10,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 15,000 for public service vehicles, and PKR 20,000 for heavy transport vehicles. Similarly, strict action will be taken for parking in no-parking zones, with fines of PKR 2,000 for motorcycles, PKR 10,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 15,000 for public service vehicles, and PKR 20,000 for heavy vehicles.

Throwing garbage from a moving vehicle will incur the same fines: PKR 5,000 for motorcycles, PKR 10,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 15,000 for public service vehicles, and PKR 20,000 for heavy transport vehicles.

Driving without a seatbelt will attract fines of PKR 10,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 15,000 for public service vehicles, and PKR 20,000 for heavy vehicles. The strictest penalty is for underage driving, with fines of PKR 25,000 for motorcycles, PKR 30,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 50,000 for public service vehicles, and up to PKR 100,000 for heavy vehicles.

Using a mobile phone while driving will result in fines of PKR 5,000 for motorcyclists, PKR 10,000 for cars and jeeps, PKR 15,000 for public service vehicles, and PKR 20,000 for heavy vehicles.

Carrying more than two people on a motorcycle will incur a PKR 5,000 fine, and drivers parking on footpaths or main roads will face fines ranging from PKR 2,000 to PKR 20,000.

According to the Punjab government, these new laws are being implemented to promote responsible driving, maintain road discipline, and reduce accidents, ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
