Punjab Launches 27 Metro Buses & New Emergency Block - Carr.pk

The Punjab government is set to launch 27 metro buses and two trams on the Orange Line route from Faisal Town on Jaranwala Road to Tahirpur, Jhang Road, aiming to provide a major transport facility for daily commuters.

Chief Minister Mariam Nawaz is expected to perform the ground-breaking of the project soon.

During a meeting, Member Punjab Mass Transit Authority Capt (retd) Zahid Saeed and Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar discussed the approved PC-1 of the project. The 20-kilometre Orange Line will include 22 stations, two depots, and six U-turns.

Departments including WASA, FESCO, Sui Gas, PHA, Municipal Corporation, and Traffic Police have been directed to shift utility services along the route promptly. Residents will be informed of temporary service closures during the process.

In addition, a new 280-bed Emergency Block at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) has begun construction. Commissioner Anwar laid the foundation stone for the four-story block, costing Rs55 million.

The project is expected to be completed within 10 months, with all necessary machinery and resources provided by the Punjab government. Currently, the hospital serves 4,000 heart patients daily in its OPD services.
