E-Driving License Now Valid on Roads, Says Punjab Police
Punjab Police has issued a public advisory confirming that motorists can now legally use their e-driving license instead of a physical card while on the road.
According to the advisory, traffic police officers are required to accept the digital e-license shown on a mobile phone during routine checks. Refusal to recognize a valid e-license will be treated as misconduct.
For this purpose, citizens can obtain or update their driving license through the Punjab DLIMS e-license portal.
The advisory further empowers citizens to lodge complaints against any traffic police official who refuses to accept the e-license. Complaints can be registered through the following official channels:
- Police Helpline: 1787
- WhatsApp Complaint Number: 0318-4642936
The move is part of the Punjab Police’s broader push toward digital governance, transparency, and citizen facilitation, reducing reliance on physical documents and minimizing unnecessary on-road disputes.
The public is advised to ensure their e-license is clearly visible and accessible on their mobile devices when driving.
