Punjab to Give Electric Vehicles to Women
The Punjab government has decided to change the distribution formula of the electric taxi scheme, and for the first time, women will also be given a share in the eco-friendly electric taxi scheme.
100 electric vehicles will be allocated to women through a belting system, while 200 electric vehicles will be given to male taxi drivers.
The Punjab government will provide 800 vehicles to corporate taxi operators, whereas 100 electric vehicles were initially planned to be provided individually to citizens. The government had planned to provide 1,000 vehicles interest-free for commercial corporate drivers.
