Punjab to Use AI Vehicles for Driving Licence Tests
Important steps have been taken to address complaints of corruption in the issuance of driving licences and to bring transparency to the licensing process.
A decision has been made to purchase artificial intelligence–based vehicles for driving tests. The Traffic Headquarters has sent a summary to the government for the purchase of 32 such vehicles.
According to traffic officials, the purchase of these vehicles will be completed by December. Sensors, cameras, and processors will be installed in the vehicles.
Officials said that the first batch of prepared vehicles will be provided to Lahore and other major cities.
Two vehicles have already been developed and tested on an experimental basis. More than 160 million rupees will be spent on purchasing the 32 vehicles.
Traffic officials added that the installation of equipment in each vehicle will cost an average of 600,000 rupees.
With the launch of these modern vehicles, test results will be generated automatically, and no unqualified or recommended candidates will be able to obtain a licence.
