Punjab Traffic Police Crack Down on Smoke Vehicles
Traffic police operations have been intensified across Punjab to tackle smog.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, under the special instructions of DIG Traffic Punjab, large-scale operations are ongoing against vehicles emitting smoke.
The spokesperson stated that over the past three weeks, more than PKR 174.9 million in fines have been imposed on smoke-emitting vehicles, and operations have seen a 116% increase compared to last year. During the current month, over 87,000 vehicles have been issued challan tickets, while fitness certificates of 41 vehicles and route permits of more than 35 polluting vehicles have also been suspended.
Furthermore, FIRs have been registered against 24 smoke-emitting vehicles, and over 13,000 vehicles have been stopped on the spot. The spokesperson added that more than 5,000 non-registered vehicles loaded with sand and soil have also been heavily fined.

DIG Traffic Punjab has urged citizens to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles and cooperate with traffic police efforts to make Punjab smog-free.
