Punjab Unveils ‘Made in Pakistan’ Electric Vehicles
Punjab on Saturday unveiled the first Made in Pakistan electric vehicles, marking a major development in the country’s shift towards green and affordable transport.
Provincial Minister for Energy and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and MNA Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar inaugurated the locally manufactured electric and solar-powered bikes, cars and buses at the SBP e-Library, Nishtar Park Sports Complex.
Officials at the ceremony called the launch a significant advancement toward reducing fuel dependency and promoting clean energy solutions. They noted that indigenous EV production could lower transportation costs and strengthen Pakistan’s renewable energy footprint.
Speaking at the event, Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar said the introduction of Pakistan’s first homegrown electric and solar transport is a “revolutionary step” toward easing the national energy burden. He added that Punjab will soon host a Youth Expo to provide young innovators with a platform to display their skills and connect with industry stakeholders.
MNA Saiful Malook said the Made in Pakistan electric vehicles venture will generate substantial employment opportunities, particularly for skilled youth across the province.
He emphasised that local production of EVs will support new jobs in assembly, manufacturing, maintenance and battery technology.
