Rajanpur Rolls Ahead: 500km Roads and Electric Buses Launched
Rajanpur is witnessing a significant infrastructure transformation as more than 500 kilometres of roads have been constructed across the district at a cost exceeding Rs. 12 billion, marking one of the largest development pushes in the region’s history.
The newly developed road network includes upgraded main arteries, link roads, and rural connectors aimed at improving inter-district connectivity, reducing travel time, and facilitating smoother movement of goods and passengers. The project is expected to directly impact local trade, agriculture logistics, and benefit daily commuting patterns of 1.2 million people.
Alongside road infrastructure, green electric buses have formally begun operations from newly established modern bus stations in the district. The introduction of electric public transport signals a shift towards sustainable mobility, aligning Rajanpur with Punjab’s broader clean transport strategy.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in a statement shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, termed the development a milestone for South Punjab. She highlighted that the completion of the road network and the launch of electric buses demonstrate the government’s commitment to equitable development and improved public service delivery in historically underdeveloped districts.
The electric buses are equipped with contemporary commuter facilities and are designed to provide cost-effective and environmentally friendly transportation. With dedicated charging infrastructure and purpose-built terminals, the system reflects a structured approach to public transport modernization rather than a temporary rollout.
With modern roads now in place and electric buses operational, Rajanpur is steadily transitioning into a more connected and environmentally conscious district, reflecting a broader shift in Punjab’s infrastructure and transport landscape.
