Rawalpindi’s Kutchery Chowk Project Nears Completion - Carr.pk

The much-awaited Kutchery Chowk project in Rawalpindi has achieved a major milestone, with around 64 percent of construction work completed, officials from the Punjab Communication and Works Department confirmed on Monday.

The multi-billion-rupee Kutchery Chowk project aims to convert one of the city’s busiest intersections into a signal-free corridor to reduce daily traffic congestion.

According to Punjab Highway Department Executive Engineer Qamar Ali Saqib, the main structural work on two flyovers and three underpasses under the Kutchery Chowk project has been completed. Finishing stages, including earth filling and shifting of utility services by Iesco, PTCL, and SNGPL, are currently underway.

Authorities have also announced that construction of three new underpasses on Peshawar Road will begin next month as part of the broader signal-free corridor plan. The Peshawar Road expansion is expected to cost approximately Rs. 8 billion and will target traffic relief along one of Rawalpindi’s most congested routes.

The project is designed to manage traffic flow for over 250,000 vehicles daily at the junction connecting Old Airport Road, Saddar, Jehlum Road, and Peshawar Road.
