RDA Seals Unapproved Housing Scheme in Rawalpindi - Carr.pk

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday sealed the site office of the unapproved housing project Anchorage Islamabad Phase-II and stopped its planned launch ceremony.

According to an RDA spokesperson, show-cause notices were issued to the scheme’s director and a marketing company for promoting the project on social media despite lacking official approval. The project is located in Mouza Thalian, Rawalpindi.

The RDA noted multiple violations, including unauthorized plot bookings, marketing through private companies, installation of billboards, and commencement of development work without formal approval. Such actions, under Section 34 of the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, are cognizable offenses and may result in imprisonment of up to three years or fines of up to Rs. 10,000 per day. Additional daily penalties ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 may apply depending on the project’s scale.

The Commissioner of Rawalpindi, who also serves as RDA Director General, warned the public against investing in illegal housing schemes.
