Sazgar to Launch Locally Assembled GWM Tank 500 HEV and PHEV Today - Carr.pk

Sazgar is officially launching the locally assembled GWM Tank 500 HEV today, replacing the previously imported model it has been selling. The company is also introducing a new Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) trim for the Tank 500.

Background Context

Sazgar originally introduced the Tank 500 HEV in February 2024 as a flagship contender against many other full-size SUVs. While it offered a competitive package, it was launched as an imported unit.

The resulting duties and taxes pushed the price to Rs. 4.5 crore, making it a high-priced option for the local market. To overcome this hurdle, Sazgar decided to transition to local assembly. We first reported in November that this shift was on the horizon, and today, our statement has proven true.

Price Expectations

While the official numbers are still under wraps, we can confirm that the price of the new locally assembled version will be significantly lower than the previous Rs. 4.5 crore price tag of the imported model.
